FAQs
General Pond & Lake Management
What types of properties do you service?
We work with HOAs, golf courses, municipalities, private estates, developers, and commercial properties.
What’s included in a pond or lake management plan?
Plans are customized, but commonly include aquatic weed control, algae treatment, muck reduction, water testing, and shoreline inspections.
How often do you visit my property?
Most clients are on monthly plans, but visit frequency depends on the size, condition, and service scope of your pond.
Can you help restore a pond that’s been neglected for years?
Absolutely. We specialize in restoring ponds that are overgrown, stagnant, or overloaded with muck and algae.
Is your team licensed and insured?
Yes. All field techs are licensed for aquatic chemical use and we carry full commercial liability insurance.
Aquatic Weed, Algae, & Muck Control
What causes algae blooms in ponds?
Usually excess nutrients—especially phosphorus—from fertilizers, runoff, or decomposing plant matter.
Do you use environmentally safe products?
Yes. We use EPA-approved products and biological solutions like beneficial bacteria and natural enzymes.
What’s the difference between algae and aquatic weeds?
Algae are free-floating organisms; weeds are rooted aquatic plants. Each needs a different control method.
What is “muck” and how do you remove it?
Muck is organic sludge at the pond bottom. We remove it using hydraulic dredging, hydro-raking, or bacteria treatments.
How long does aquatic weed removal take?
Time varies by size and method. Some projects take a day, others require staged service over weeks.
Shoreline Restoration & Erosion Control
What causes shoreline erosion?
Wave action, poor runoff management, and lack of vegetation are the most common causes.
What is ShoreSOX® and how does it work?
It’s a bioengineered shoreline system that stabilizes banks using organic media and mesh, allowing native plants to regrow and secure the soil.
Can you fix steep or collapsing banks?
Yes. We reshape slopes, install erosion control materials, and restore shoreline structure with minimal disruption.
Do you plant vegetation or buffers after repairs?
Yes. We re-establish buffer zones using native wetland plants to filter runoff and hold shoreline soil in place.
How do I maintain restored shorelines?
Trimming and light management is typically included in your maintenance plan. Minimal upkeep is needed once stabilized.
Aeration, Fountains & Water Quality
Do you install and service aerators and fountains?
Yes. We install submersed aeration and decorative fountains using top brands like Kasco, Airmax, and Vertex.
How do I know if my pond needs aeration?
If water is stagnant, smells bad, or has algae/fish die-offs, it likely needs circulation and oxygenation.
What are the benefits of pond aeration?
Aeration improves oxygen, reduces algae, minimizes muck, supports fish health, and balances water chemistry.
Do you offer seasonal maintenance for fountains and aerators?
Yes. We service nozzles, motors, lights, diffusers, and compressors year-round.
Can you test my water and make treatment recommendations?
Absolutely. We offer full water testing and custom treatment plans based on the results.
Wildlife & Mosquito Control
Can you help control mosquitoes and midges in my pond?
Yes. We use eco-safe biological larvicides and improve water conditions to eliminate breeding zones.
Are your mosquito treatments safe for fish and pets?
Yes. All treatments are aquatic-safe and applied with care by licensed professionals.
Do you stock ponds with mosquito fish or other species?
Yes. We offer fish stocking programs including gambusia (mosquito fish), triploid grass carp, and other beneficial species.
Can you improve habitat for native wildlife?
Yes. We support beneficial species by planting native buffers and restoring shoreline vegetation that encourages healthy ecosystems.
Logistics, Scheduling & Billing
Do you provide one-time cleanups or just monthly service?
We offer both! We recommend monthly service for long-term success, but we also perform single cleanups or seasonal treatments.
How does scheduling work for recurring service?
You’ll be placed on a service route. We provide advance scheduling and post-visit reports for each service.
Can I request emergency service?
Yes. We offer priority scheduling for emergency issues such as fish kills, equipment failure, or algae outbreaks.
Do you send service reports after each visit?
Yes. You’ll receive documentation outlining what was done, any issues observed, and recommended next steps.
How do I pay for services?
We accept ACH, credit card, and check payments. Monthly clients can opt into auto-pay and receive invoicing via email.
